Residents of Seattle's High Point neighborhood are grappling with the aftermath of a violent shooting that took place late Wednesday night. According to KING 5, multiple suspects opened fire on a car, unleashing around 60 rounds and injuring a 42-year-old woman. The Seattle Police Department responded to the incident in the 6500 block of Sylvan Way SW shortly after 11:15 p.m., where they found the victim wounded in the arm. She was treated on scene before being transported to Harborview Medical Center.

Investigators have yet to make an arrest, and the details surrounding the motive for the shooting are still to fully come to light. The SPD's Gun Violence Reduction Unit is at the helm of this ongoing investigation, as stated by MyNorthwest. In addition to the barrage of bullets that struck the woman's vehicle, several other cars and at least one occupied home were hit during the shooting spree.

In the wake of the incident, residents are calling for an end to the surge in violence, which they feel has escalated in the past few years. Nick Skinner, a neighborhood inhabitant, told KING 5, "Between the shootings, there've been multiple incidents with cars, windows shot out. It's all been recent, within the last four or five years, like post-COVID," he said. "We just need this stuff to end. We need people to know. We need to know what's happening. We need to know that it's not good. We don't want it."

Seattle City Councilmember Rob Saka is among the officials expressing concern over the persistent violence in High Point. "I’m disheartened by yet another shooting in High Point. My thoughts are with the woman who was injured and the families whose homes and cars were hit. Gun violence has no place in Seattle, and this neighborhood has been hit too many times," Saka stated, according to KING 5. He recounted his efforts to curb gun violence, such as securing funding for youth programs and advocating for increased patrols and better street lighting.

The Seattle Police Department encourages anyone with information not to hesitate and come forward, urging them to call the Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000. As highlighted by FOX 13 Seattle, the attack not only injured a civilian but also posed a risk to the wider community; thus, investigators are seeking all the help they can get to apprehend those responsible and prevent further incidents.
