A man has been charged with second-degree murder for a shooting that occurred in Seattle's Chinatown-International District in early December 2025. The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office levied the charges against 30-year-old Abdulrahman M. Hussein, who is currently being held on a $3,000,000 bond, according to SPD Blotter. Hussein had previously been arrested on Dec. 24 for unrelated criminal activity including Driving Under the Influence and Ignition Interlock Violation.
Following his initial arrest, Seattle police homicide detectives were able to quickly wrap up their investigation and refer charges to the prosecutors. Detectives had been investigating the homicide since Dec. 1, when they responded to a shooting at a local hookah lounge. Upon their arrival just before 8 a.m., they found a man critically injured from a gunshot wound, as stated on SPD Blotter. The Seattle Fire Department promptly transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
The incident, which occurred at a business on the 400 block of Rainier Avenue South, began with an altercation inside the hookah lounge. The suspect, now identified as Hussein, discharged multiple rounds during the incident, mortally wounding the victim. Despite numerous individuals being present at the time, no other injuries were reported. The King County Medical Examiner is expected to release the identity of the deceased along with an official cause and manner of death once their investigation is concluded.
Hussein fled the scene before law enforcement arrived and was not located immediately following the incident. As detectives investigated, the area was closed off while the Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation Units conducted their operations.
