As freezing temperatures continue to grip North Texas, Trophy Club municipal crews have been combating a significant 14-inch water main break since last Saturday. According to a CBS News Texas report, the incident, occurring around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Trophy Club Drive and Indian Creek Drive, caused water to flood the streets just as a winter storm swept through the area.
Trophy Club officials have praised the dedication of on-call staff who braved the harsh weather conditions to address the emergency. As crews worked overnight and yesterday, Trophy Club residents were asked to avoid the area and conserve water.
The scale of the repair job has proven to be quite extensive. A report by WFAA noted that officials had successfully contained the break last night. "It wound up being a much more extensive repair than initially realized," officials explained. As a result, the response team chose to install a new tee and three valves, instead of just applying a temporary fix that might risk further breaks.
Despite the challenging conditions, officials confirmed that the town's water system pressure remained stable throughout the repair process. Water storage levels were also maintained, negating the necessity for a boil water notice. Some residents in proximity to the break, including those near Michelle Court, Jennifer Court, and the area adjacent to the Fire Department and Country Club, may have experienced lower water pressure or a temporary loss of service. Officials have asked residents to continue conserving water and avoid the affected area unless you are bringing the guys some hot chocolate, as stated in their message to the community.
With repairs nearly finalized, normal water flow is expected to resume soon. The authorities have cautioned that residents might notice air bubbles in their water supply initially, which should resolve after letting the taps run for a couple of minutes. The concerted effort of the crews, undeterred by subzero wind chills, is set to restore a sense of normalcy after the disruption caused by Mother Nature's latest test of the community's resolve and its infrastructure.
