As a brutal winter storm sweeps through Ohio, Upper Arlington is feeling the icy grip of nature's force. The city has announced a wave of closures and cancellations to prioritize public safety amidst the snow and cold. The Bob Crane Community Center on Tremont Road has shut its doors and will keep them closed until noon on Monday, January 26. As reported by the City of Upper Arlington's official website, all activities and programs originally scheduled for Sunday and Monday have been scrapped due to weather conditions.
The community center plans to partially reopen Monday morning, but only to serve patients from Ohio State Wexner Medical Center who have existing appointments. "The main entrance will be closed. All patients must use the Member Entrance located on the south side of the building," says the City of Upper Arlington's update. They've arranged for staff to assist and put up temporary signage to aid in navigation.
In addition, the Municipal Services Center on the same road has also announced a one-day shutdown. Upper Arlington officials urge residents and businesses needing city services to reach out via phone or email. "Regular business hours, 8 am to 5 pm, will resume on Tuesday, January 27," as per the City of Upper Arlington's announcement.
While public amenities take a hit, emergency services maintain their vigilant watch. The Upper Arlington Police Division and Upper Arlington Fire Division are unaffected, staying fully staffed to provide continuous emergency support. "The City appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as safety remains the top priority during these severe winter conditions," the City of Upper Arlington communicated, promising updates as the situation develops.
