Las Vegas residents can expect a continuation of the city's warm and sunny disposition for the first part of the week. According to an early morning update from the National Weather Service Las Vegas NV, temperatures will remain above the norm with clear skies until a shift in the weather pattern towards the weekend brings more clouds and a slight dip in the mercury.
High pressure along the West Coast is the main factor for these mild, dry conditions, along with light winds, which are a stark contract to the usual Vegas hustle. "Breezy north winds will persist one more day today along the Colorado River, particularly near and south of Lake Mohave," the National Service stated, outlining that come Wednesday, these winds should subside as the high-pressure ridge begins to lose its grip.
Later in the week, a weak low pressure system is forecast to slide beneath the Pacific Ridge axis, resulting in more cloud cover from Thursday to Saturday. While rainfall seems unlikely due to the arid lower atmosphere, "the potential remains for some very light showers/sprinkles, especially in the higher terrain," the NWS added, as the trough axis makes its presence felt.
Aviation conditions remain favorable, as light winds at Harry Reid Airport are forecast to follow "typical daily directional patterns," leaving flights uninterrupted under VFR (Visual Flight Rules) conditions. As the increasing clouds are expected to stay at mid to high levels, "operational impacts are not expected" with cloud bases forecast between 15-25k feet. On the river valley stretch from around KIFP to KEED though, stronger winds are on the cards where 25-30KT gusts are expected through late evening, according to the weather service's discussion.
Local weather enthusiasts and spotters are encouraged to be on the lookout and report any significant changes in conditions, as is normally the procedure.
