Federal prosecutors in the Western District of Texas are cracking down on illegal immigration with the recent filing of 735 new cases. According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, the charges, filed between December 19, 2025, and January 8 span across crimes including violent offense histories, repeat immigration violations, and human smuggling operations.
The docket includes U.S. citizen Kenya Rodriguez-Marcial, arrested on Christmas Eve for her alleged role in an alien smuggling conspiracy. Inspection at the Bridge of the Americas Port of Entry led to the discovery of cash that she claimed was proceeds from her involvement in the activity. On her phone, authorities reportedly found incriminating video and text evidence. In a separate incident, Alexis Antillon-Rey was apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol, allegedly engaging in the transport of illegal aliens, his vehicle acting as a part of a broader smuggling network.
High-profile convictions highlight the severity of recent cases. Miguel Angel Martinez-Ruiz, charged with illegal re-entry, has a violent past, including an assault that caused brain injury and paralysis. Marcio Steven Izaguirre, a three-time deportee from Honduras, was previously convicted of child molestation. Milton Edgardo Hernandez-Flores and Juan Fernando Lara-Saavedra face multiple illegal re-entry charges.
Other individuals, including Jose Antonio Calderon, Alejandro Martinez Jaimes, and Reynaldo Rofino-Octaviano, who have multiple DWI convictions, face charges related to immigration violations. These cases involve collaboration among ICE, U.S. Border Patrol, and the DEA in the Western District of Texas, which covers a significant portion of the U.S.-Mexico border.
The Western District of Texas, which includes three major cities and a long border with Mexico, plays a central role in immigration enforcement. The recent surge in prosecutions targets individuals with criminal histories attempting illegal entry. The U.S. Attorney’s Office said the 735 cases will proceed through the courts in the coming months.
