Williamson County Appraisal District (WCAD) is now opening the submissions for their historic tax exemption applications for the year 2026. Property owners of designated historic properties in Williamson County are welcome to apply now through April 30. A note for applicants: as processing is handled on a first-come, first-served basis, getting your paperwork in sooner rather than later might be a sound strategy.
Upon receiving your application, WCAD staff will line up an inspection a few weeks afterward. According to the information obtained from the city of Round Rock's website, the information received between January 1 and April 30 this year will be processed. Those who were part of the exemption program last year were sent reports in July detailing what needs fixing to remain eligible for this year's exemption.
Should there be questions regarding the status of your 2025 inspection report, or if you're looking to grab copies of inspection photos, reach out to Kerstin Harding at [email protected]. You're also advised to contact Harding if you require a Certificate of Appropriateness for your renovation project or if you're considering proposing a phased work plan due to the project's scope.
The application form is accessible for download on the WCAD Forms page, neatly tucked under the "forms and applications – exemption applications" section. If any uncertainties arise while filling out the form, the WCAD has made a guide available with the cryptic title "Form 50-122 instructions." To apply, property owners may choose the traditional mail route or swing by the WCAD’s online Exemption Contact page. For those opting for digital submissions, you can find your way to the correct place by selecting "submit application" under the list of reasons for contact.
