The incident occurred on the evening of October 1, 2025, when four suspects accosted a victim as he was retrieving items from his vehicle on the 1000 block of Emerson Street. The assailants brandished a firearm, demanded the victim's keys, and when unsuccessful, they resorted to assault and robbed him of his cell phone before fleeing the scene.
After an investigation and the issuance of a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, an 18-year-old suspect, Stanley Simmons, hailing from Southeast, was taken into custody on February 11, 2026. According to the official announcement by the MPD, Simmons is currently facing charges for Armed Carjacking. Despite this arrest, the case continues to be actively under investigation, as authorities work to conclusively piece together and to fully apprehend all those involved.
