A violent confrontation outside the Orange County Jail has resulted in multiple charges against 23-year-old Anthony Myles, as well as injuries to innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire. According to WESH, the incident occurred on Wednesday when Myles engaged in a shooting during an argument with his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend. A 76-year-old woman was injured during the shooting spree.
The altercation escalated from harassment to physical violence when Myles attempted to run his ex-girlfriend's vehicle off the road. He then chased her and her new boyfriend, culminating in Myles firing shots from his vehicle, with three bullets piercing through his windshield. One of those bullets wounded an elderly woman, who was later discharged from the hospital. Myles, now being held at the same facility where the incident took place, was denied bail by a judge, citing his danger to the public and an admission that he let "his feelings got the best of him," as per the arrest affidavit, reported by WESH.
In a separate but related account, FOX 35 Orlando interviewed Bernice Chmarouski and her mother, Digna, who were running errands when their car's back window was shattered by gunfire. "It was real quick, but slow motion at the same time," Bernice said. Digna suffered a shoulder injury from a bullet strike, but thankfully only sustained a bruise.
Police reports indicate that the shooting was "domestic-related" and occurred after Myles followed and shot at his ex-girlfriend and another man. Myles is now facing multiple charges, including three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and one count of shooting out of a vehicle. Bernice expressed gratitude for their survival, conveying to FOX 35 Orlando, "I am very blessed and thankful that nothing happened to my mom and my son. I believe in God so much, and I am blessed that it could have been worse."
