Bel Air police spent part of their Saturday at Bel Air Plaza after multiple reports of a person with a weapon in the parking lot near the ALDI store. Officers spoke with witnesses at the scene, documented what happened in a report and said investigators are now reviewing evidence to follow up on leads. No arrests had been announced over the weekend, and the department released only limited additional information.
What police say
According to WBAL NewsRadio, officers were called Saturday to the lot by the ALDI after several callers reported that someone was armed. The station reports that officers interviewed witnesses and filed an incident report, and that police asked anyone with information or video of the encounter to contact Officer J. Greene at 410-638-4500 or [email protected]. Investigators say they are reviewing evidence and following up on leads.
Plaza has drawn police attention before
The plaza, a strip center along Baltimore Pike anchored by national chains, has already been flagged by merchants and town officials as a hotspot for disorderly behavior, including e-bike incidents, according to Business Resource Network Harford. Local TV archives also show a previous suspicious-package call at the plaza that was later cleared by bomb technicians, highlighting why calls from busy shopping lots tend to draw a serious response from police, WMAR2 News reported. Those earlier incidents have prompted merchants and officials to push for vigilance and quick police response.
How to help
Anyone who witnessed Saturday’s incident or recorded video is asked to contact Officer J. Greene at 410-638-4500 or [email protected], or to call the Town of Bel Air’s non-emergency line at 410-638-4550 to share tips. The Town of Bel Air publishes contact information and guidance for non-emergency police matters. Police say the investigation is active and that they will release more information when it becomes available.
