A Beaver County firefighter was hospitalized after a perilous encounter with a garage fire on Sunday. WPXI reported an explosion from acetylene tanks at the site near the Baden-Economy border, which was fully engulfed by the time firefighting crews arrived around 2:30 p.m. Baden Volunteer Fire Department Chief Dennis Baker revealed, "The fire was in a garage that housed a business."

When suppression efforts were underway, a firefighter found himself showered with sparks ignited by magnesium, causing him to fall. Baker said the firefighter "ended up falling" after being hit by the sparks. According to WPXI, he was subsequently taken to a hospital for evaluation and has been released. The fire had been extinguished after roughly ninety minutes with no other reported injuries.

Meanwhile, a separate incident on the same day saw another firefighter injured while battling a blaze in a Beaver County home. According to WTAE, responders were summoned to Daniels Drive around 3 p.m. following the initial reports. However, it has not been made clear whether the firefighter's injury was a direct result of the fire.

Arriving on the scene, emergency crews found themselves amidst flames and potential harm. The Economy Volunteer Fire Department notes that the building attacked by fire, along with its contents, including equipment vehicles, sustained total loss.
