Carnival Cruise Line is getting a bigger footprint in Charm City. Starting in fall 2027, the company will base a second ship in Baltimore, expanding its year-round presence at the Port of Baltimore. The Spirit-class Carnival Miracle will join sister ship Carnival Pride, bringing more departures and longer Caribbean itineraries. Carnival says this will be the first time it has homeported two ships in Baltimore at the same time and that the move is meant to widen itinerary choices for East Coast travelers.
New ship, arrival, and routes
According to Carnival Cruise Line, Carnival Miracle is scheduled to reach Baltimore on Nov. 20, 2027, following a 15-day transatlantic repositioning cruise from Civitavecchia, Italy. From there, the ship will run seven-, eight- and nine-day sailings to the Bahamas and Eastern Caribbean, along with 12- and 14-day Carnival Journeys voyages that include ports such as Dominica, Guadeloupe, and St. Maarten. Carnival describes Miracle’s onboard lineup as tailored to longer, destination-focused trips, with a mix of dining venues, water parks, live shows, and comedy clubs.
Carnival's message
"Baltimore has been an important homeport for Carnival for more than two decades, and we’re excited to continue building on our year-round operations with the addition of Carnival Miracle," Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy said in a statement, detailed by Carnival Cruise Line. The company says the extra ship will give guests more variety in both itineraries and hardware, expanding options for travelers coming from the Northeast and Midwest.
Local leaders welcome the boost
State and port officials are treating the move as an economic win. Gov. Wes Moore called the Port of Baltimore "one of Maryland's strongest economic engines" and noted that each cruise visit generates roughly $1 million in activity. Maryland Port Administration Executive Director Jonathan Daniels pointed to the terminal’s easy access off I-95, according to reporting by WBAL. The Maryland Port Administration also ties hundreds of jobs to cruise operations, a number officials expect to benefit from the added ship.
Destinations from Charm City
As reported by Maryland Daily Record, Carnival’s expanded Baltimore schedule will feature sailings to the Bahamas, Bermuda, and a slate of Southern Caribbean ports, including Aruba, Curaçao, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, Antigua, Tortola, and Martinique, along with longer Carnival Journeys options. The mix is designed to give local cruisers more choices for one-week escapes and extended vacations without having to route through Florida cruise hubs.
What travelers should know
Industry outlets note that Baltimore will be one of a limited number of U.S. ports hosting two Carnival ships at the same time in the 2027-28 period, a shift that could ease demand at some of the busier Florida terminals and give travelers more direct options, according to Cruise Industry News. Carnival’s scheduling adds capacity and a wider range of sailing lengths out of the port. Travelers can watch Carnival’s booking channels for specific itineraries and opening dates as the 2027 season draws closer.
