The change was first reported by Crain's Chicago Business, which detailed the new data offerings and noted that leadership plans to unpack the broader strategy at an upcoming investor day. Crain's coverage also points out that the new identity lines up with an effort to build out research capabilities and widen philanthropic pipelines into health professions.

A national-scale trainer

In a press release, Adtalem Global Education says its institutions now serve roughly 97,000 students, are backed by about 385,000 alumni, and include more than 10,000 faculty and colleagues. The company has built scale across Chamberlain, Walden, and its medical and veterinary schools, and it says that footprint is central to its plan to produce more clinicians quickly enough to keep up with demand.

New data, new brand

The company is also rolling out a "Care Capacity Monitor," a survey and data set that Crain's reports covered more than 1,300 clinicians and 160 health-system executives, and analyzed monthly job postings. That research found an acute labor gap, with more than 700,000 health-care job vacancies posted each month, and reported that roughly three-quarters of clinicians say staffing shortages keep them from delivering the quality of care they want, according to Crain's Chicago Business.

Why the new name?

The Covista identity has been in legal prep for months. Trademark filings show Adtalem applied for the "COVISTA" mark in mid-2025, a sign the rebrand was a long-planned move rather than a quick pivot. Records cataloging the application and a recent EU registration show the company working to lock down the name, per trademark filings.

Adtalem says it will host an investor day on Feb. 24, 2026, to lay out three-year growth targets and the steps it will take to expand training, research, and philanthropy under the Covista banner. Management and investors will be tracking whether the repositioning leads to measurable gains in enrollment, job placement, and partnerships with health systems, according to Adtalem's investor release.

For Chicago, the rebrand underscores the city's role as a hub for large-scale health-care education and workforce initiatives. For hospitals and clinics nationwide, Covista will try to sell itself as both a pipeline builder and research partner at a moment when the sector says it needs nurses, allied clinicians and doctors faster than traditional training channels are producing them.
