County Puts Out The Call
The Election Department shared a recruitment flyer on X to announce openings for the Mail Ballot Counting Board. The original post is viewable from Clark County Nevada (@ClarkCountyNV).
When The Counting Runs And What It Pays
According to a flyer from the Clark County Election Department, the Mail Ballot Counting Board is listed as operating May 25 6/18 for the primary and Oct. 19 6/11/12 for the general election. The position pays $17 per hour plus overtime. The flyer also notes that training is mandatory and workers must pass a short quiz before serving.
Why The Hiring Push Matters
Election officials say having plenty of trained staff on the Mail Ballot Counting Board helps keep mail ballot processing both quick and accurate, especially after earlier cycles where signature-cure and processing issues left many mail ballots unresolved. Reporting from the Las Vegas Review-Journal documented thousands of mail ballots that were not counted in prior elections because of signature problems, a cautionary example county officials point to when stressing the need for solid staffing.
How To Apply
Would-be ballot counters can apply online or on paper. Applications are available through the county’s online applicant portal as well as in a fillable PDF, and paper applications can be requested by phone. The flyer lists an email for submissions ([email protected]), a fax number (702-455-2831) and phone lines to request paper copies, while the online application is hosted on the Clark County applicant portal. Full instructions are detailed in the official flyer from the Clark County Election Department.
