Los Angeles County sheriff's detectives have released photos of a man they want to talk to after a Jan. 8 assault outside Barney's Beanery on Santa Monica Boulevard that left one person seriously hurt and in the hospital. The West Hollywood Division says the case is very much active, and deputies are leaning on the public to help put a name to the face in the images.
According to KTLA, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department circulated several surveillance stills and said anyone who recognizes the man should contact Detective Gonzales at 310-358-4011 or email [email protected]. Deputies described the confrontation outside the bar as physical, and the victim was hospitalized with serious injuries, KTLA reported.
What Investigators Released
The West Hollywood Division shared stills pulled from surveillance cameras and urged anyone who might have seen what went down to speak up, according to Westside Today. Officials pointed residents to LA Crime Stoppers for anonymous tips and to the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station for direct calls and walk-ins. Deputies say even small details could be the missing piece in figuring out who is in those photos.
A Troubling History At The Corner
It is not the first time violence near Barney's Beanery has rattled West Hollywood. In September 2024, longtime valet Efrain "Frankie" Zarazua was left unconscious after what witnesses described as a brutal, seemingly unprovoked beating that landed him in the ICU, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. That assault set off a month-long search that ultimately led to an arrest, CBS Los Angeles reported.
The back-to-back high-profile incidents have neighbors and regulars alike talking again about how safe that stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard really feels after dark.
How To Help
Anyone with information about the Jan. 8 case is urged to call Detective Gonzales at 310-358-4011 or email [email protected]. Anonymous tips can be submitted through LA Crime Stoppers or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS. The West Hollywood Sheriff's Station is also taking information directly, and deputies say even a brief video clip, a license plate number or a detail from that night could make a real difference, according to the LASD’s West Hollywood Division.
Detectives have not announced any charges tied to the Jan. 8 assault, and the investigation remains open. Authorities are asking anyone who knows something, however minor it might seem, to come forward so they can keep the case moving.
