La La Land Kind Cafe, the Dallas-born chain known for its sunny yellow cups and cloud-topped lattes, is lining up a new shop in Katy’s Meadows Marketplace, sliding into the space currently occupied by Main Squeeze Juice Co. at 6825 S. Fry Road. A recently filed permit shows the spot is slated for a tenant-finish renovation this spring ahead of a projected summer completion, adding yet another specialty coffee and toast counter to the increasingly caffeinated strip of eateries along South Fry, as reported by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Permit Points To Spring Buildout And Six-Figure Budget
According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the "La La Land Cafe Katy" project was registered Jan. 27 and lists a March 31 start date and a June 30 completion date. The filing pegs the construction budget at an estimated $245,000 for roughly 1,876 square feet. It describes a new kitchen, restroom and dining area as part of the build-out and names Alejandro Bernal as the tenant contact.
What La La Land Plans To Pour And Plate
According to La La Land Kind Cafe's menu, the chain leans into iced "cloud" lattes, signature coolers and a lineup of sweet and savory toasts. That includes the Banana Cloud Latte, an Arnold Palmer cooler and truffle burrata and hazelnut cacao toasts. The brand’s colorful presentation and social-friendly cups have helped it expand across Texas since its 2019 debut.
Katy Location Joins Wider Houston-Area Push
The Houston Chronicle reported that permits were also filed for another Greater Houston site in Cypress and noted La La Land operates roughly 20 locations in Texas, with additional outposts in other states. The Katy build-out is one piece of that broader push into the Houston area this year.
What The Swap Means For The Strip
Community Impact noted the unit at 6825 S. Fry Road is currently home to a Main Squeeze Juice Co. location, and the Main Squeeze site also lists the Meadows Marketplace address. The available filings and reporting do not include an official opening date from La La Land. If construction follows the TDLR timetable, work should wrap by late June and a storefront could appear by mid-summer.
Shoppers and brunch-goers in Katy can expect signage and exterior changes in the coming months as contractors begin the tenant finish. We will be watching the center for an official opening announcement and grand-opening details.
