
A man who was shot Friday afternoon at the intersection of 14th Street and Euclid Street NW in Columbia Heights has died after being taken to a hospital, according to D.C. police. Officers were called around 2:17 p.m. and found the victim conscious with a gunshot wound. His condition worsened at the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The shooting shut down part of the busy 14th Street corridor as detectives moved in to work the scene.
As reported by WJLA, officers arrived after a call to the intersection and found one man suffering from a gunshot wound. The outlet reports the victim was initially conscious at the scene but later died after he was transported to a hospital.
Investigation at the Scene
WTOP's traffic log shows authorities shut down 14th Street NW in both directions near Euclid Street NW while investigators processed the area. The closure first appeared in traffic updates shortly after 3 p.m., and crews remained on site as officers collected evidence and pulled surveillance footage from nearby cameras.
Police Seek Tips and Suspect Vehicle Information
Police told WJLA they believe the shooter may have taken off in a gray or silver Dodge Durango with dark window tint. Investigators are asking anyone with information to call 202-727-9099 or text 50411 to reach detectives handling the case.
The Metropolitan Police Department has not released the victim's name and has not reported any arrests as the investigation continues.
