The victim’s name has not been released as detectives continue collecting evidence.
According to ABC11, officers arrived at about 3:11 p.m., found a man suffering from gunshot wounds and had him transported to a local hospital, where he later died. Police did not immediately release additional details and asked anyone with information to contact Investigator G. Silla at (919) 560-4440 ext. 29310, or to submit tips anonymously through CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200.
Another night of gunfire in Durham
This killing was at least the third reported shooting in Durham in roughly 24 hours. WRAL reported a late-night shooting on E. Umstead Street that left 47-year-old Tavarus Joyner dead. In a separate incident, WRAL also noted that a drive-by shooting on Rosedale Avenue wounded a 13-year-old boy. Investigators have not announced any arrests in those cases as of Thursday evening.
Police urge witnesses to step forward
Authorities have released only limited information so far and are again leaning on the public for help. ABC11 reports that CrimeStoppers accepts anonymous tips and offers rewards of up to $2,000 for information that leads to arrests.
The shooting also comes as state and local agencies have been planning road and safety work along Roxboro Street, including resurfacing and shoulder repairs highlighted by the N.C. Department of Transportation.
Durham police say the investigation remains active and are asking anyone with information, footage or other potential evidence to contact Investigator G. Silla or CrimeStoppers. Officials say they will release more details when they are able.
