
A 71-year-old moped rider, Michael Lasseigne, has died from injuries sustained in a southeast Las Vegas collision on January 24. He had been hospitalized at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center after being thrown from his moped in a crash with a Honda Civic and succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
Crash details
The collision happened just after 2:20 p.m. on January 24 on South Eastern Avenue, south of East Maule Avenue. Investigators said a 2012 Honda Civic began a left turn into the path of a 2024 Zhejiang Senling moped, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The moped struck the left front of the Civic, overturning and ejecting Lasseigne onto the roadway.
Aftermath and investigation
Emergency crews took Lasseigne to Sunrise Hospital’s trauma center, where he was admitted for ongoing treatment but ultimately did not survive, according to FOX5. Metro’s Collision Investigation Section is handling the case. Police said the driver of the Honda stayed at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.
What officials say next
Lasseigne’s death is being counted as the 13th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction for 2026. Authorities said additional information will be released as the investigation continues, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
