Las Vegas is soaking up a sunny, mild Saturday afternoon, with temperatures topping out near 69°F and a light east breeze. Clear skies are making outdoor plans easy today, but the calm will not last long as the weather pattern flips early next week, as reported by the National Weather Service.
Storm Timing And What To Expect
A potent Pacific storm is on track to roll in Monday into Tuesday, bringing rain to the Las Vegas Valley and heavy snow to the higher terrain. According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, rain showers are likely Monday (Washington's Birthday, February 16, 2026) with highs near 68°F, and southerly winds could gust into the 30-40+ mph range across the region. A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for the Eastern Sierra and the White Mountains of Inyo County from late Sunday night through Wednesday evening, with snow levels expected to fall overnight Monday into Tuesday.
Mountains And Travel
Higher roads and passes, especially into the Owens Valley and along the Sierra, are the biggest concern: heavy mountain snow will likely make travel difficult and could close mountain routes. We covered the milder weekend in an earlier preview; see that background in clouds crash the party. Lower-elevation neighborhoods can still expect wet, slick roads, ponding in low spots and water flowing in normally dry washes as showers move through.
Plan Ahead
Plan for travel delays Monday and Tuesday and secure outdoor items that could blow around in gusty winds. Allow extra time if you have mountain travel scheduled. For safety tips on flash flooding and what to do if roads become flooded, see guidance from Clark County Emergency Management. If you rely on flights, expect possible delays if winds and precipitation increase, and check local advisories along with your carrier before you head to the airport.
