Kebabalicious, the long-running East Austin kebab shop, is opening a second outpost inside Drinks Lounge & Records. The collaboration will bring the restaurant’s Mediterranean-Peruvian street food to the bar’s East Cesar Chavez storefront, with dinner service slated to start Thursday, Feb. 19. The original Kebabalicious at 1311 E. 7th St. will remain open while the new location runs evening hours.
What’s the New Setup?
Kebabalicious co-owner Kristian Ulloa called the move "a homecoming" in a press release and said the teams share a goal of keeping East Austin authentic, according to CultureMap Austin. The outlet reports that the shop will bring its full lineup, including beef, lamb, and chicken kebabs, falafel wraps, and the K-Fries topped with za'atar, feta, and a spicy red sauce, into the bar’s kitchen. Drinks Lounge will continue to run the beverage program while Kebabalicious handles the food.
Where to Go and When
Drinks Lounge lists Kebabalicious on its food page and invites patrons to order at the bar, effectively confirming the partnership from its side. The bar and record shop sits at the corner of East Cesar Chavez and Lynn, and its late-night regulars should give Kebabalicious a built-in crowd for dinner service. Both businesses say they will remain separate operators even as they share the same address.
Menu and Hours
Starting hours at the new outpost will be 5–11 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays, with the team planning to adjust times once they get settled, CultureMap Austin reports. Drinks Lounge’s Tim Lupa told the outlet that "Kebabalicious is an East Side institution" and said the pairing feels like a smart neighborhood addition. Diners can expect kebab platters, wraps, and the signature K-Fries to line up alongside the bar's cocktail and frozen-drink program on opening nights.
Why It Matters for East Austin
Kebabalicious began as a food trailer in 2006 and has grown into a standalone storefront on East 7th, where it has long been part of the neighborhood’s late-night fabric, per Kebabalicious. Folding that menu into Drinks Lounge adds a permanent kitchen to a spot already known for DJs, records, and late hours, creating another destination for after-hours dining on the east side. Fans should expect busy opening nights, and the teams say they will tweak service as they learn the rhythm of the shared space.
