Solstice, an all-day gathering spot with clear Austin roots, is slated to open in March in Jonestown near Lake Travis. The Hill Country outpost is planning craft coffee by day, cocktails by night, and a rotating lineup of local food trucks, with acoustic music set under a canopy of oaks and juniper. The idea is a space built for lingering, where remote work in the morning can roll straight into sunset cocktails, giving Lake Travis residents a nearby place to meet up and stay awhile.
Who’s behind Solstice
As reported by CultureMap Austin, the project comes from a crew that includes Matthew Wenger, who manages Whisler's, along with investor Jason James, a partner in Odd Duck and Sour Duck, and Preston and Sarah Keilers of Lightstream Presents. In a press release quoted by CultureMap Austin, Wenger said, "We poured decades of hospitality and design expertise into Solstice to create a space that feels both world-class and deeply local." The mix of restaurateurs and promoters brings downtown service know-how into a more rural Hill Country setting.
Where it sits
Solstice lists its address as 18637 FM 1431 in Jonestown and shows hours of roughly 8 a.m. to midnight on its official site. The venue bills itself as a craft coffee-and-cocktail destination, and the site currently tags the business as "Coming Soon" and "est 2026." Jonestown's status as an International Dark Sky Community adds another selling point for evening gatherings under wider Hill Country skies. Both Solstice and the town's designation by DarkSky International suggest the operators plan to lean into the setting.
What to expect
According to the opening announcement covered by CultureMap Austin, Solstice will offer indoor and outdoor seating, a second-story covered patio, and plenty of shade, all meant to encourage guests to linger. The plan is to serve coffee and cocktails alongside a rotating roster of food trucks, welcome remote workers during the day, and host acoustic music at night. The partners' pedigrees keep the Austin connection front and center, with Sour Duck Market and Odd Duck alumni listed among the team, so a local-food bent in the offerings is a safe bet.
Why Jonestown
Jonestown sits on Lake Travis about 25 miles northwest of Austin, and the town's dark-sky protections make it an appealing fit for an evening-forward concept. The developers are pitching Solstice as a community hub for the Lake Travis and Hill Country crowd rather than a late-night Austin outpost, a framing that could help the venue land a year-round role beyond weekend traffic. For now, the site remains in its coming-soon phase, and the team is still lining up details ahead of opening.
