The City of Concord recently announced Eric Pratt as the new Aviation Director for Concord-Padgett Regional Airport, according to a press release from the city's official website. Pratt is set to take over the reins following the retirement of the current director, Dirk Vanderleest, at the end of March this year. He boasts more than a decade of experience in aviation management and leadership roles.
In a statement obtained by the City of Concord's news page, City Manager Lloyd Payne expressed confidence in Pratt’s ability to steer the airport's operations and contribute to the city's growth. "Eric’s extensive experience in aviation will be an asset to our city as we continue to strategically plan for the future and position our community as a premier destination for innovation and opportunity," said Payne. Pratt is expected to swiftly begin to work alongside the current director until the formal transition at the end of March.
Concord-Padgett Regional Airport, recognized as North Carolina's fifth busiest port, plays a vital role in the local economy. It supports over 5,300 jobs, generates more than $474 million in personal income, and contributes a hefty $1.1 billion in economic output. Travelers enjoy direct connections to 12 destinations across the east coast and Puerto Rico, operated by two commercial airlines, and the airport hosts several flight schools and NASCAR teams.
"I’m honored and excited to serve as the new Aviation Director for the City of Concord. This airport is a gateway to opportunity—for businesses, for travelers, and for our entire community," Pratt told the City of Concord. With plans to further strengthen operations and enhance passenger experience, Pratt seems poised to vastly contributing to the airport's success. His previous experience includes roles at Dallas Love Field, McKinney National Airport, and Mesquite Metro Airport, where he successfully negotiated development deals that significantly increased airport revenues and economic outputs.
Pratt, who will start his new position on March 23, is not only a University of Oklahoma Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management graduate but also an Accredited Member of the American Association of Airport Executives. He has been recognized for his contributions to the field, including a nod from Airport Business Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2015.
