Jacksonville residents can expect a gusty day ahead as the National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a wind advisory set to impact parts of northeast Florida and southeast Georgia. Strong south winds of 15 to 20 mph, with potential gusts of up to 40 mph, are forecasted to commence from noon today and persist until 6 PM EST this evening. According to the NWS advisory, the regions encompassing Inland Nassau, Inland Flagler, Coastal Nassau, and various other local areas are going to be affect by the advisory.
The weather changes are not stopping at the wind, with an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms also predicted. Swinging around unsecured objects, impactful tree limbs could cause inconvenience and potential damage, along with a few power outages. The NWS advises securing outdoor objects and exercising caution, especially for those driving high profile vehicles.
Alongside the wind advisory, there's a forecast of showers and thunderstorms that might further complicate the day for locals with severe weather conditions including heavy rainfall. The NWS detailed forecast projects conditions turning stormy after 5pm today, potentially bringing between a quarter and a half an inch of rain. The stormy weather is set to shift by tonight with showers and thunderstorms tapering off before 1am.
After the wind and rains cease, the forecast indicates a change to more tranquil conditions. With partly sunny skies, Monday, commemorating Washington's Birthday, will bring about cooler temperatures, a high near 67, and a breeze shifting from northwest to northeast. We should be expecting gusts as high as 20 mph, and leading into the coming week, a gradual return to sunny weather and highs creeping back towards the 80-degree mark.
