A Harrisburg pastor is facing a new round of child sex-crime charges that prosecutors say stem from repeated abuse of children, according to criminal filings. Michael A. McMullen, 68, is being held in Dauphin County Prison on $75,000 bail, which he has not posted. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 11, 2026.
New charges allege abuse of children
Susquehanna Township police filed additional counts that include involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 13, indecent assault of a person less than 13 and corruption of minors, according to PennLive. Prosecutors say the latest charges followed an expanded investigation that began after another alleged victim contacted detectives earlier this year.
Victims' accounts and prior allegations
Court documents, as described in reporting, state that one victim told police McMullen followed her into a room at his Green Street home during a holiday celebration, removed her underwear and performed a sex act. Another alleged victim reported that he groped her chest and buttocks when she was about 10 years old.
These new accusations come on top of November 2025 charges that accused McMullen of unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault and corruption of minors. Legal Examiner reviewed the earlier affidavit and court records that first brought those allegations into public view.
Church ties and public records
McMullen's public profiles link him to St. John AME Church. His Facebook page lists him as a pastor there beginning June 3, 2021, and a 2024 post from the AME's first district congratulated him on an appointment, PennLive reports. That reporting also notes he was married in October 2025 and that public records and social media posts have been reviewed alongside the criminal filings as investigators built their case.
What the charges mean
Under Pennsylvania law, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child under 13 is a first-degree felony that can carry a prison term measured in decades. The other listed offenses also bring significant felony or misdemeanor exposure, depending on the precise counts and the ages of the alleged victims. The state code on involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and mandatory sentencing for offenses against infant persons outlines the statutory framework. 18 Pa.C.S. § 3123 (Justia) and 42 Pa.C.S. § 9718 (FindLaw) detail how age and other factors can increase sentencing ranges.
What’s next
Susquehanna Township police say the investigation widened after a separate victim came forward in January, and detectives are continuing to review evidence and interview potential witnesses. Court records show McMullen will remain in custody while the case moves toward his March 11 preliminary hearing, along with a separate arraignment date tied to the earlier set of charges.
