The Hilliard Division of Police recently shared their investment in the future leadership of our community with a visit to J.W. Reason Elementary School. According to the Hilliard Division of Police, a social media post, Deputy Chief Kelly Weiner spent time with a group of 11 fifth-grade girls as part of the ROX (Ruling Our eXperiences) Program, a program that aims to embolden young women by fueling their confidence, leadership skills, and success mindset.
Deputy Chief Weiner didn't just stop by to observe. She actively engaged with the students by sharing her personal story in a field where, for too long, women have been a minority. Weiner reminded the young girls that they can "be leaders anywhere" - bringing a face and a story to the ROX mission, which holds that the potential of young girls should see no ceilings, especially not in male-dominated spaces. The Hilliard Division of Police, through this engagement, publicly demonstrated their support for women's rise in law enforcement and leadership at large. It's a small, yet potentially pivotal step, for the young attendees and community alike.
The ROX Program is strategic in its approach to empowerment by recognizing the unique social challenges girls face and offering them tools to navigate through those complexities. By inviting leaders like Deputy Chief Weiner, the program clearly shows its dedication to providing real-world examples that inspire. "ROX empowers girls to build confidence, strengthen their leadership skills, and recognize their ability to succeed, especially in spaces where women have historically been underrepresented." The Hilliard Division of Police expressed their gratitude towards the ROX program, its students, and staff, marking the occasion as a special moment for all involved.
