Jacksonville City Council approved two ordinances aimed at addressing key city needs. Ordinance 2025-0900 allocates $850,000 for thermal imaging equipment for the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and $400,000 to address blight and litter in neighborhoods. The ordinance also adds more than $1 million to the city’s reserve fund.
At last night’s City Council meeting, Ordinance 2026-0036 established a Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) Board, aimed at ensuring the historic CBA connected to the Stadium of the Future provides measurable benefits. Mayor Donna Deegan noted that the initiative reflects a focus on investing in neighborhoods that have long awaited attention, particularly the Eastside, according to the City of Jacksonville.
The initiatives targeting blight include increased cleanup efforts, installation of cameras at illegal dumping sites, targeted code enforcement, and focused interventions in heavily affected areas. According to Mayor Deegan, the ordinances aim to support cleaner streets and safer neighborhoods, which contribute to community well-being, property values, and public safety.
Mayor Deegan’s administration has emphasized practical results, responsible governance, and collaboration. The ordinances received bipartisan approval, reflecting agreement on key city priorities. Mayor Deegan stated that the measures are intended to build trust in city government and ensure all neighborhoods benefit from clean, safe, and well-supported communities.
