Homesick Bagels quietly opened its doors this week in North Hyde Park, slipping kettle-boiled New Jersey style bagels into the neighborhood’s morning routine. The counter-service shop is all about breakfast hours and grab-and-go, serving sweet and savory combos from a French-toast bagel to a loaded "3 LiL' Pigs" breakfast sandwich. The concept comes from local restaurateur Travis Kaiser, who also runs Santoro’s and the newly opened Giancarlo’s right next door.
According to Creative Loafing Tampa, Homesick set up shop at 1528 W. North B St., next door to Giancarlo’s Cafe & Spirits, with a focus on New Jersey style bagels and hefty breakfast sandwiches built for serious appetites.
Menu and hours
Homesick Bagels lists daily hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its North Hyde Park location. Its online ordering via Toasttab shows single bagels priced at $3, with sandwiches like the 3 LiL' Pigs hovering around $14. The menu leans into straightforward, neighborhood-style breakfast sandwiches built on freshly kettle-boiled bagels rather than overcomplicated creations.
Local restaurateurs expand in Hyde Park
Travis and Roxana Kaiser designed Homesick as a stripped-down, counter-service spot with no seating, the couple told Business Debut. "At Homesick we’re keeping it classic: kettle-boiled bagels and simple, neighborhood-focused service," Kaiser told the outlet. The pair also operate Santoro’s Pizzeria and opened Giancarlo’s Cafe & Spirits next door, turning the block into a compact hub for morning bagels and later-day pizza.
Tampa's bagel boom
Homesick arrives in the middle of a bagel surge across Tampa Bay over the past year, from celebrity-backed PopUp Bagels to big national names like H&H and a wave of local brands expanding across the region. Local outlet Tampa Magazine has tracked the trend as both established chains and homegrown shops rush into the market.
