Detroit police are hunting for a hit-and-run driver who took off after striking a pedestrian at Joy Road and Livernois just before 6:10 a.m. on Feb. 7. The 32-year-old woman was rushed to a hospital, where she later died, according to authorities. The driver never stuck around to talk to officers, and the case remains under active investigation.
Police zero in on SUV, possible passenger drop-off
According to FOX 2 Detroit, investigators say the suspect vehicle is a black, newer-model Hyundai Tucson that was seen heading west on Livernois after the crash. The 32-year-old victim was taken to a hospital, where she later died, police told the station.
Detectives also believe the at-fault driver may have dropped off a person near Littlefield while fleeing. That detail could become a crucial breadcrumb, and investigators are urging anyone who lives, works, or drives in the area to review any dashcam or security footage from around the time of the crash.

Why hit-and-runs leave families waiting
The Governors Highway Safety Association reports that roughly one in four pedestrian deaths involves a hit-and-run. That kind of disappearance at the scene does more than stall a case, it often leaves grieving families without answers for months or years. It is a key reason detectives keep pressing for witness video, street-level tips, and any scrap of information in cases like the Feb. 7 crash on Joy Road.
