A man has been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a vehicle fire erupted Monday evening in Warren's Halmich Park. Warren Fire Department crews were dispatched around 8:01 p.m. to tackle a 2013 Honda Accord in flames. Upon their arrival, firefighters discovered a man outside the car with serious burn injuries to his hands and lower arms, according to reports from CBS News Detroit.
The injured man was transported by Warren firefighter-paramedics to Detroit Receiving Hospital for treatment. An "aggressive attack" by the fire department successfully quenched the blaze within roughly 10 minutes. Meanwhile, fire personnel secured the area and ensured that there were no additional victims or hazards. They also requested fire inspectors to investigate the incident's cause, as detailed by The Detroit News.
Local residents reported hearing a loud explosion that could be heard for miles, indicating the severity of the incident at the park, situated along 13 Mile Road near Dequindre Road. After the incident, the man's condition was promptly assessed by both firefighter-paramedics and hospital staff, reinforcing the view that his burn injuries, although serious, were not life-threatening. This information was corroborated by audacy, who reported that the man had to be pulled from the flaming vehicle by firefighters.
The aftermath of the blaze left the vehicle completely destroyed, a fact illustrated by photos circulated on social media. As of the latest updates, both the Warren Fire Department and the police are actively investigating the explosion's cause, and the findings have yet to be released to the public.
