Wes Moore, the governor of Maryland, has reiterated his commitment to bipartisanship and pragmatic policy in a recent statement shared after his controversial exclusion from an annual White House event. Governor Moore, who was elected Vice Chair of the National Governors Association, emphasized his drive to improve the lives of Marylanders and his willingness to collaborate with colleagues across party lines to achieve shared goals.
In an announcement that has caught the attention of political spectators, Governor Moore highlighted how, a week ago, he was unexpectedly disinvited from a customary White House dinner—a move that broke with long-standing tradition. Despite this setback, Moore thanked his Democratic colleagues for their support. According to a statement obtained by the Office of the Governor, Moore said, "I thank all of my Democratic colleagues for standing with me."
Moore's leadership was previously noted for bringing a group of bipartisan governors to the White House, where they tackled key issues such as energy costs and grid reliability. This earlier meeting proved fruitful, with Moore securing an agreement to cap energy prices, ultimately saving families an estimated $27 billion on their energy bills.
Despite the recent friction, the Maryland governor has maintained a focus on progress and unity. "I will attend today's business meeting with my colleagues at the White House," Governor Wes Moore stated. He further clarified his position, "But let me be abundantly clear: I will not participate in political stunts." The governor expressed a hope to engage in constructive dialogue aimed at serving the interests of both Maryland and the nation at large.
