The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will hold an open house on Feb. 19 to discuss proposed changes to I-75 in Monroe County. The meeting will cover a planned reconstruction from Laplaisance Road to N. Dixie Highway, affecting Monroe, Frenchtown Charter Township, and Monroe Charter Township. MDOT will share project details and gather public input on the work, which is scheduled to begin in 2029 and conclude in 2030.

The project will rebuild and improve a 2.4-mile segment of I-75. The Elm Avenue interchange, which poses safety concerns due to weaving traffic, will be removed. The Front Street interchange will get upgraded ramps for better vehicle and truck movement, and traffic flow at Front Street and N. Dixie Highway will be improved to reduce congestion and enhance safety.

The open house will be held at Monroe City Hall, Council Chambers, 120 E. First St., Monroe, MI 48161, from 4 to 7 p.m. MDOT staff and contractors will be available to discuss the planned construction and its impacts. Individuals needing assistance should contact Orlando Curry at 517‑241‑7462 or [email protected] at least five business days in advance.

Residents can also provide feedback or ask questions online via the MDOT project webpage and sign up for updates to stay informed throughout the project.

Further details about the open house, project background, and how to provide feedback are available on the MDOT project webpage.
