The Marcia P. Coggs Health and Human Services Center in Milwaukee was recently honored during Black History Month. Named after Wisconsin's first African American female state legislator, the center was celebrated by County Executive David Crowley, Milwaukee County Board 2nd Vice Chair Priscilla E. Coggs-Jones, and other community leaders. A history wall and new plaque were unveiled to recognize Coggs's legacy, according to the Milwaukee County Executive release.

The center provides health and human services to the community and continues Coggs’s work in social change, according to DHHS Executive Director Shakita LaGrant-McClain. The facility, which opened in June 2025, is designed to serve the King Park neighborhood and meet a range of community needs.

Located next to the Mental Health Emergency Center, the Marcia P. Coggs Center is part of Milwaukee County’s broader efforts to improve community health and equity. It complements other local initiatives, including the construction of 120 single-family homes and upgrades to the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center.
