In a move highlighting the ongoing battle against illegal firearms and narcotics, Suffolk County's efforts have pinned down a North Amityville man on multiple charges. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the indictment of 31-year-old Nicholas Greaves, accused of dealing illegal handguns and cocaine. Greaves allegedly conducted the sales to an undercover police officer, as reported by Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.
Tierney stated, "Our officers put their lives on the line every day to keep these deadly drugs off our streets." He continued to express the county's "unwavering commitment to dismantling the flow of illegal guns and drugs in our community." According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, the alleged transactions took place between March and May of 2025, during which Greaves is accused of orchestrating six separate instances of cocaine sales in Central Islip and Bay Shore.
The undercover operation further led to Greaves allegedly selling three different loaded and operable handguns to the officer. The firearms in question included a SCCY CPX-2 9mm semi-automatic handgun, a Taurus PT 111 G2 9mm semi-automatic handgun with a large capacity ammunition feeding device, and a defaced Taurus G2S 9mm semi-automatic handgun, as obtained by the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office announcement.
On February 13, Greaves faced arraignment before Acting Supreme Court Justice Anthony S. Senft, Jr., for an array of charges that include one count of Criminal Sale of a Firearm in the First Degree, four counts of Criminal Sale of a Firearm in the Third Degree, three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, six counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, and six counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree. Justice Senft ordered Greaves held on $200,000 cash, $400,000 bond or $2,000,000 partially secured bond. He is due back in court on March 11, 2026, and faces 5 to 25 years in prison if convicted on the top count, with representation by the Legal Aid Society.
The prosecution of this case falls to Assistant District Attorney Robert Archer of the Narcotics Bureau. The Suffolk County Police Department's Narcotics Section led the investigation. As the legal process unfolds, Greaves' indictment serves as a pertinent reminder of the ongoing efforts to curb the circulation of illegal firearms and drugs, straining the sinews of our shared safety and the rule of law in Suffolk County.
