Police say a weekend argument outside a North Philadelphia corner store turned violent Saturday evening, ending with a 40-year-old man shot and a gunman now on the run. The victim was hit twice in the stomach and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains in stable condition, according to investigators. The confrontation, which officers say started as an argument, is still under active investigation.
What police say
According to NBC10 Philadelphia, the shooting happened around 5:45 p.m. on the 200 block of West Wensley Street, right outside a neighborhood convenience store. The station reports that the wounded man, 40, was taken to the hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
Investigators released a brief description of the man they are looking for. The suspect "was last seen wearing all black, white sneakers, a black cap and has a small goatee," police told NBC10 Philadelphia. Detectives also said they believe both men involved in the argument were armed, though the exact sequence of events that led to shots being fired is still under review.
