A workplace dispute in Hyattsville spiraled into deadly violence Tuesday night, ending with one man killed and a coworker now facing a first-degree murder charge, Prince George’s County police said.
Investigators say 39-year-old Jalleel Jackson of Washington, D.C., is accused of shooting 33-year-old Christopher Hall during an argument at a business in the Hyattsville area. Hall was rushed to a hospital but did not survive his injuries. Jackson was later arrested in Washington and is being held while authorities move to bring him back to Prince George’s County.
What Police Say
Officers were called around 10:45 p.m. to the 3300 block of 52nd Avenue, where they found Hall suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died, according to WUSA9. Investigators say the shooting happened during a dispute between two coworkers inside a business on the block.
Police have not publicly identified the business or detailed what sparked the argument, leaving key questions about what led a work conflict to escalate into gunfire.
Arrest And Custody
Prince George’s County police say Jackson was tracked down and taken into custody in Washington, D.C., by the PGPD Fugitive Unit with help from the U.S. Marshals’ Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, according to The BayNet. Detectives say the arrest capped an investigation involving the Homicide Unit and fugitive teams.
Jackson has been charged with first-degree murder and related offenses and remains jailed in Washington while officials work through the extradition process to return him to Prince George’s County.
Investigation And Tips
Detectives are still piecing together what unfolded in the moments leading up to the shooting and are asking the public to help fill in the gaps. Anyone with information is urged to call the Homicide Unit at (301) 516-2512 or submit anonymous tips through Crime Solvers, according to WUSA9.
Investigators are especially interested in hearing from anyone who witnessed the dispute or has video that could shed light on what happened inside the business that night.
Legal Status
Jackson currently faces first-degree murder and other charges tied to the killing, authorities said, and additional counts could be added as the case develops, according to The BayNet. Once the extradition paperwork is completed, he is expected to be brought to Prince George’s County for an arraignment.
The killing has rattled coworkers and neighbors in the area, and detectives say the investigation remains very much active. This story will be updated as court records and official filings become available.
