Orange City officials say construction activity near Leavitt Avenue and Waggin’ Trail Dog Park is part of a project aimed at improving the city’s stormwater management system. The information was shared in a recent social media post by the Orange City, Florida, government.
According to a Facebook post, the project includes the installation of an underground pipe and the construction of three retention ponds to improve stormwater management. Officials say the system is designed to increase stormwater storage capacity, support aquifer recharge, help protect nearby natural resources such as Blue Spring, and reduce flooding risks during the rainy season.
City officials say the project is expected to support aquifer recharge and help reduce flooding in the area. The effort is being carried out in partnership with the St. Johns River Water Management District as part of broader environmental management initiatives in Orange City.
