In two separate incidents on Tuesday, members of the Philadelphia Fire Department demonstrated their commitment to public safety, carrying out daring rescues to save three individuals from perilous situations. According to a social media post from the PFD, Rescue 1 and Squad 47 were dispatched to the Schuylkill River where they conducted a high-stakes extraction of a person from the icy waters below the JFK Bridge. A firefighter was lowered to the individual, who was then secured and hoisted up to safety.
Following their river rescue, the PFD's day of heroism was not yet concluded they went on to address another crisis, this time a house fire in Frankford, where two people were trapped inside a burning structure. The PFD's social media detailed the subsequent response, describing how their members sprung into action, rescuing the two individuals from the flames. All three rescued parties received immediate medical attention, with the first person being whisked away to the hospital for treatment post-rescue.
The rescued individuals from the house fire were reported to be in stable condition after their ordeal. The PFD has not released further information on the conditions of the victims at this time.
