Philadelphia residents and businesses, it's that time of the year again. The Department of Revenue is rolling up its sleeves to help ease the often-dreaded tax season. As of today, the city is ready to process a plethora of tax returns, payments, and refund requests. The Philly tax machine won't slow down until all duties are fulfilled by April 15, with real estate's due date a bit earlier on March 31. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker stressed the significance of tax contributions in a statement, per the City of Philadelphia, saying, "Every dollar collected helps fund the services that keep Philadelphia running."
For those aiming to quickly get this yearly chore off their backs, direct deposits are here to expedite refunds. With most processed in under a week post-approval, the waiting game is greatly reduced. Taxpayers can even to quickly track their return status online. And for those seeking redemption, the voluntary disclosure program got a little less daunting, now peering back merely three years instead of six, matching the Commonwealth's policy. Commissioner Kathleen McColgan is all in on this change, noting, "We are committed to optimizing digital resources and expanding support options to help residents and businesses file their taxes accurately and on time," as reported by the City of Philadelphia.
If you're looking for a helping hand, the city is partnering with local organizations to provide free tax assistance to those who qualify. Dial up the Department of Revenue until 7:30 PM weekdays through mid-April for answers to all your tax queries.
