Philadelphia stepped out to clear skies and a brisk 28°F (−2°C) early Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, with a light northeast breeze around 5 mph cutting through the morning air. The good news, at least for now, is mostly sunny skies and a high near 47°F, which means bright but still jacket-worthy weather for anyone making outdoor plans.
Sunny Friday, Milder Saturday
Temperatures this afternoon are expected to top out near 47°F under that sunshine, with light southeast winds keeping things calm. Saturday ups the ante a bit, with highs near 53°F and gentle southwest breezes, making it the prime day this weekend for errands, walks, or squeezing in that overdue park run.
The mild feel does not last long. Late Saturday night, an arctic front is forecast to sweep through the region, and forecasters say it could drag a narrow band of light precipitation along with it plus a sharp temperature drop on the back side, according to the National Weather Service Mount Holly.
Late Saturday Night Into Sunday
From late Saturday night into Sunday morning, any precipitation will favor the northern suburbs, mainly north of I‑78, where forecasters say a coating to around an inch of snow is possible. Areas south of I‑78 are more likely to see rain or a brief rain and snow mix, with little to no accumulation expected.
By Sunday, the colder air settles in. Northerly winds could gust around 20 mph, knocking wind chills down and kicking up choppy conditions on the Delaware River and nearby waters.
Early Week Systems Then A Warm Up
Looking ahead, a couple of low pressure waves could clip the region from Monday through Wednesday, bringing a chance for light snow on Monday and a rain and snow mix Tuesday into Wednesday. Timing and amounts are still uncertain, so forecasts may shift as the systems get closer.
After midweek, the pattern starts to lean warmer again, with highs expected to rebound into the 50s and 60s late next week. Any wintry impacts early in the week should be short lived.
Practical Tips
There are no watches or warnings in effect for the city right now, but conditions could change quickly as the front moves through this weekend. If you have travel planned for Sunday morning, it is worth considering a delay for any nonessential trips.
Before heading out, check the National Weather Service Mount Holly or local transit pages for the latest on road conditions and any service impacts.
