General Grant’s Hot Dogs, a Philadelphia family-run food truck by Shawn and Abby Jackson and their son Grant, plans to launch in northeast Las Vegas this spring with simple East Coast–style hot dogs and house-cut fries. Operating from a North Las Vegas commissary, they aim to bring flavors like chili-cheese, sauerkraut and classic mustard dogs to areas that rarely see East Coast cart fare.
The family told What Now Las Vegas they expect to open this season and focus on routes around North 5th Street and the 215, Losee Road and the 215, and possibly Decatur. They also hope to add a second truck within six to eight months and eventually move into a storefront.
Back-to-basics menu and where to follow
The family says they are intentionally keeping the menu simple instead of chasing gourmet trends, serving everyday standbys the way carts do back East. Their online hub, including a Linktree for @generalgrantshotdogs, points to Instagram and TikTok for pop-up locations and schedule updates.
"We have to travel to Summerlin for all of the good restaurants," Abby told What Now Las Vegas, explaining why the Jacksons want to bring East Coast flavors to parts of the valley that lack them. The family says that after two or three trucks are running they plan to scout for a brick-and-mortar location.
Where the commissary sits
The permit-listed commissary at 439 N Rock Quarry Way is located in a North Las Vegas industrial corridor that already hosts catering and mobile food operators. A MapQuest listing for 439 Rock Quarry Way shows several food-service businesses at that address, which aligns with the Jacksons' plan to use the site as a prep base while the truck roams the northeast valley.
