Wednesday, February 11, 2026 — Philadelphia finally nudges above the deep-freeze today, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the upper 30s to around 41°F. Just do not confuse “milder” with “comfortable.” Persistent northwest winds will keep the air feeling raw, knocking wind chills down into the 20s around the city.
Afternoon Winds Pick Up
Northwest winds will ramp up through the afternoon, with gusts in the 25 to 35 mph range turning the commute into a blustery affair and sending unsecured trash cans and lawn chairs on short neighborhood tours. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect on local waters from 6 a.m. Wednesday through 6 p.m. Thursday, so recreational boaters should avoid taking small vessels out or make sure they are well secured, according to the National Weather Service Mount Holly.
Tonight And Thursday
Colder air settles back in tonight, with lows near 27°F and northwest winds around 15 mph. Gusts could still reach about 25 mph after sunset, sending wind chills into the teens across parts of the region and making any evening plans feel harsher than the thermometer suggests. Thursday looks a bit cooler overall, with highs near 36°F and continued northwest breezes keeping that late-winter bite in the air.
Boaters And River Ice
Significant ice cover remains across the Delaware estuary and many inland bays and creeks. The National Weather Service reports the Delaware River is mostly ice-covered from the bay entrance upstream to at least Washington Crossing, limiting movement until a stretch of warmer weather and rain can break things up. With that ice in place and gusty winds still in play, conditions stay hazardous for small craft and ice operations, even as a recent Winter Weather Advisory for the area has been canceled. For full details and marine products, see the National Weather Service Mount Holly.
Weekend Watch
Forecasters are keeping an eye on a coastal system expected late Sunday into Monday that could bring rain or a rain/snow mix to the region. Most current guidance tracks the system to the south and east of Philadelphia, which makes widespread heavy snow look unlikely for now, though uncertainty remains. If you have late-weekend or Monday plans, it is worth checking for forecast updates as the timing and precipitation type could still shift. Looking beyond that, milder readings return next week, with highs edging back into the 40s.
