Wawa has yanked four varieties of its 16-ounce milk pints from select shelves around the Philadelphia region after warning that some bottles could contain soft plastic pieces that pose a choking risk. The Feb. 18 recall covers Double Dutch chocolate and three other 16-ounce offerings sold in parts of Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and New Jersey. Wawa said impacted stores pulled the affected units and disposed of them as a precaution.

Wawa's recall notice

In a press release via PR Newswire, the company said the affected beverages are Wawa Double Dutch Chocolate Milk, Wawa Chocolate Milk, Wawa Cookies N Cream Milk and Wawa 2% Reduced Fat Milk, and that no other Wawa-branded products are included. The statement notes that the items were removed from sale and adds that Wawa has not received any confirmed reports of injuries tied to the products.

Where the pints were sold

The biggest impact was on the Double Dutch Chocolate Milk, which Wawa says went to 195 stores across the four states. Cookies N Cream pints landed in about 60 stores, while the Chocolate and 2% pints were limited to smaller runs. As reported by The Independent, affected locations include Delaware beach towns along with multiple South Jersey and central New Jersey stores. Wawa is directing customers to its recall page for a full list of impacted locations.

How to identify affected bottles

The recalled bottles are flagged by specific UPC codes and code dates: Double Dutch Chocolate Milk (UPC 00726191015141, Code Date March 2, 2026), Cookies N Cream (UPC 00726191015158, Code Date March 2, 2026), Chocolate Milk (UPC 00726191014908, Code Date March 2, 2026) and 2% Reduced Fat Milk (UPC 00726191014380, Code Date March 5, 2026). Wawa's recall notice lists these UPCs and code dates and urges customers to check the cap or label before drinking. PR Newswire

Returns and refunds

Customers who picked up the affected pints are being asked to toss them immediately or bring them back to a Wawa store for a refund in the form of a Wawa Gift Card. Local reporting notes that Wawa is steering customers with questions to its online contact form or to the customer center at 1 800 444 9292 for help with refunds and information. Patch reported that stores have already cleared the items from shelves.

Why it matters

Soft pieces of plastic in refrigerated drinks are a particular choking risk for small children and for anyone who might swallow them without noticing, which is why retailers and manufacturers typically pull limited batches at the first hint of contamination. Wawa's move follows a separate voluntary recall of a small run of its bottled drinks last October, a reminder of how targeted production issues can spark quick, localized recalls. CBS Philadelphia documented that earlier recall.
