A 26-year-old man died after a stabbing at an apartment complex on 27th Place South in Kent early Saturday morning, according to police. Patrol officers found the man with a stab wound to the chest and applied a chest seal while awaiting medics. He was conscious but unable to speak when he arrived at the hospital and later died during surgery.
As reported by FOX 13 Seattle, officers were dispatched just after 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 6 for a call about an "unwanted person" at the complex and discovered the wounded man at the scene. Kent police say detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the stabbing and currently believe the incident was isolated. The department is asking anyone with information to call the Kent Police tip line at 253-856-5808 or email [email protected]; for time-sensitive tips, call 253-852-2121 or 911.
Investigators canvass the area
Kent Police detectives are leading the investigation and are canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and surveillance footage, according to investigators. They are working to piece together what led up to the stabbing and who may have seen or recorded anything around the time officers were dispatched. Where this fits locally
The killing is the latest serious violent incident in Kent; a separate homicide last Sunday was reported when a man was found dead in brush on 74th Avenue South. In that and other recent investigations, detectives have asked residents to check doorbell, security and dash-cam footage and to share any video that could help.
Detectives continue to investigate. Anyone with information or relevant footage is urged to call the Kent Police tip line at 253-856-5808 or the non-emergency dispatch line at 253-852-2121. If you know the identity or location of the suspect, call 911.
