Downtown San Antonio has finally scored a ramen shop built for both the office lunch crowd and the bar-close sprint. Kaedama Battleship is turning out focused bowls and small plates in a tidy counter-style space that is already drawing diners from midday to midnight.
Local TV recently put the spotlight on the shop on Great Day SA in a segment titled “Warm ramen flavors from the morning to late at night.” The piece walked viewers through the menu and the team’s approach, as seen on KENS5.
What to order
The menu centers on bowls like silky tonkotsu, a double-miso with shiitake mushrooms, pork shoyu and a chicken Sapporo with yuzu-kosho meatballs, along with snacks such as crab croquettes, charred edamame and beef dumplings, according to CultureMap San Antonio. The Express-News notes that most bowls land around $16, with add-ons like extra noodles or an egg available a la carte. With a compact lineup and relatively modest prices, Kaedama is set up for both a quick lunch and a no-fuss late-night bite.
Hours and where to go
Kaedama sits at 122 E. Houston St., Suite 103, and lists daily hours of 11 a.m. to midnight on its website. The restaurant also offers two-hour parking validation at the RAND garage and provides a phone number for reservations, per the restaurant.
Who’s behind it
The noodle bar is the latest concept from Empty Stomach Group, the team behind Hot Joy, Double Standard and Leo’s Hideout, the Express-News reports. The group previewed Kaedama’s ramen through pop-ups at Hot Joy before opening the downtown noodle bar full time.
Why locals are flocking
Local outlets and reviewers have already tagged Kaedama as an early standout for its balanced broths and streamlined menu, according to Axios. The opening also helps fill a downtown ramen gap left when Kimura relocated in 2022, a shift chronicled by MySA.
