Lola’s Pupusas, a family-run Salvadoran food truck, is getting ready to roll onto South Decatur this spring, bringing a tight, homestyle menu of pupusas, chicken sandwiches and Hula Hula tortas. Owner Norma Soriano says the truck is designed as a family-friendly hangout where neighbors can pull up for homemade Salvadoran flavors without leaving the block.
Where It Will Be
The truck is slated to operate at 1200 S. Decatur Blvd, near the intersection of S. Decatur and W. Charleston, right in the heart of the Decatur commercial strip. That address already hosts national retailers such as Big 5 Sporting Goods. According to MapQuest, Big 5 lists the 1200 S. Decatur location.
Owner, Menu and Permit
"More than just food, we want to offer a little bit of our culture," Soriano told What Now Las Vegas. She described Lola’s as a tribute to grandma’s cooking with fresh touches, confirming a lineup of pupusa varieties alongside chicken sandwiches and the Hula Hula torta. The outlet also notes a city permit that lists the food truck's commissary address as 63 N. 30th St.
Commissary and Logistics
Sammy’s Commissary lists 63 N. 30th St as its facility and advertises full-service amenities for food trucks, including gated parking, electrical hookups, gray-water disposal and grease removal. That infrastructure should let Lola’s Pupusas base its operations at Sammy’s while the truck serves customers on Decatur. For more on the commissary's services, see Sammy's Commissary.
A Taste of Home
Pupusas are El Salvador's national dish: thick corn- or rice-based flatbreads stuffed with cheese, beans, pork or other fillings and traditionally served with curtido and tomato sauce. Their made-to-order, communal style helps explain why pupusa spots often turn into neighborhood gathering places. For background on the dish and its cultural significance, see Wikipedia.
