South Broadway is about to get its TRVE fix back. Music City Hot Chicken says it is essentially one signature away from securing a new liquor license at its Denver outpost, which would allow the spot to run a full bar and ramp up service inside the former TRVE Brewing taproom.
That step is the key to bringing the beer back. Westword reports that Music City, which moved into TRVE's 227 Broadway address in 2021, has been on a pared-down schedule while it reapplies for city licensing. Once the paperwork clears, the plan is to restore the full TRVE lineup and expand beyond simple walk-up pours with a more robust beverage program.
Music City officially took over TRVE's lease last September and has mostly kept the doors open on weekends during the licensing limbo, according to Denver7. General manager Steven Skinner told Denver7 that the new lease runs through 2029 and that being able to sell alcohol will be a major boost for the kitchen. For now, the crew is holding steady with limited hours: Thursday evenings plus full days on Fridays and Saturdays.
Keeping TRVE's Vibe
Co-owner Sam Graf says the team is not trying to scrub away the room's metal roots. "We're trying to tiptoe and be careful about what kind of changes we make," he told Westword, explaining that the goal is to keep the heavy-metal atmosphere alive while easing the space into a more restaurant-forward setup. The kitchen and core menu are expected to stay largely intact as Music City experiments with cocktails and rotating taps. The owners say they want the update to feel like a natural evolution, not a full-on rebrand.
Where the Beer Will Be Brewed
TRVE shifted its Colorado production to New Image Brewing in Wheat Ridge in 2024, a move that has kept the beers flowing along the Front Range, Axios Denver reported. That contract-brewing deal is what will let Music City stock TRVE cans and kegs even though TRVE's own taprooms have shut their doors. Founder Nick Nunns has said he is happy to see New Image and local partners help maintain the brand's presence for Colorado drinkers.
What to Expect Next
Music City's Denver location page currently lists the trimmed-down hours and directs fans to its local Instagram for reopening details. The site confirms the address at 227 N. Broadway and the weekend-focused schedule for now. For updates on the liquor-license finish line and eventual grand reopening, follow Music City Hot Chicken. Once the license is finalized, the team expects to open five days a week and start pouring TRVE's full lineup again.
