
An 85-year-old man has died after a single-vehicle crash in south Charlotte, and detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are now trying to sort out what happened along a quiet stretch of Sharon View Road.
The collision happened on Nov. 17 in the 4200 block of Sharon View Road. Investigators say the driver was taken to a hospital with head injuries and was pronounced dead nearly two weeks later, on Nov. 29. CMPD is asking anyone who saw the crash or its aftermath to get in touch as the probe continues.

CMPD's account of the crash
According to CMPD, officers, Charlotte Fire, and MEDIC were dispatched around 2:41 p.m. on Nov. 17. When they arrived, they found a Honda SUV off the left side of the roadway.
The department’s preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle ran off the road, hit a street sign, then struck a tree. At this stage, CMPD says neither speed nor impairment is suspected as contributing factors in the fatal wreck.

Local reporting has echoed CMPD’s initial release and noted the case is filed under report number 20251117-1441-02. Media outlets also relayed that detectives are asking anyone with information to call Detective Worthy at 704-432-2169 ext. 6 or to submit an anonymous tip through Charlotte Crime Stoppers.
As reported by WSOC, the investigation remains active while crash specialists work through the evidence.
