Downtown Washington Court House is getting a serious sugar upgrade. Crumbs Up Cookies and Cakes, run by local baker Hillary Wells, is slated to open at 143 N Main Street later this spring, with a late March or early April target. Interior construction is nearing the finish line and a new storefront sign is already up. The shop is set to offer custom cakes, macarons, cupcakes and cookies, including buttercream-iced sugar cookies sold by the dozen.
Wells shared the news in a social post and told fans, "We're working hard! Excited to open for you ASAP," according to WhatNow. The outlet reports that she plans to move from events and custom orders into a full brick-and-mortar space, with an ordering system that lets customers pick up items as needed instead of relying only on made-to-order treats. WhatNow also noted the new signage out front and included a Google Earth Pro image of the future bakery.

Wells plans to bake custom-themed cakes for celebrations and sporting events, along with macarons, cupcakes and decorated sugar cookies, with buttercream-iced cookies available by the dozen. The space previously housed Vinyl Coffee, which now lists a new address at 101 E Court Street, according to MapQuest's business listing for the cafe.
