Grain & Berry, a Tampa-based superfood café chain, is officially aiming for a slice of the Baltimore market. A franchise partner plans to open three locations across Baltimore County, including a store in the Red Run area of Owings Mills. The brand, known for açaí bowls, smoothies, and plant-forward flatbreads, is also listed as taking space at Harbor Point as part of a broader push into Maryland.
Franchisee Lays Out County Game Plan
According to the Baltimore Business Journal, a franchise partner says it will roll out three Grain & Berry locations in Baltimore County. Grain & Berry's own website flags an Owings Mills shop as "Coming Soon," which strongly suggests the Red Run address is in line to be one of the first county openings.
Harbor Point Site Locks In, With More To Come
Developer materials show Grain & Berry has leased about 1,675 square feet on the ground floor of the Allied building at Harbor Point, according to Harbor Point. The announcement notes the Harbor Point location is a partnership with local franchisee Better At Inc., and Grain & Berry’s brand manager called the waterfront shop "the first of a number of locations" planned for Maryland.
Owings Mills Store Taps Into Busy Red Run Corridor
Grain & Berry's Owings Mills listing points to Red Run, a retail and office park near Metro Centre and Mill Station, based on property details from Hill Management. Public listings show a cluster of businesses along Red Run Boulevard, which developers and brokers have pitched as a growing suburban hub for dining and services.
Riding the Local Health-Focused Dining Wave
The move lines up with a broader wave of health-focused fast casual and plant-forward concepts expanding into both Baltimore City and the surrounding suburbs. Similar brands have been planting flags in Owings Mills and Harbor Point in recent years, part of a steady stream of better-for-you chains testing the local appetite, according to QSR Magazine.
